Mark Sanford Tell-All Book
Mark Sanford has written a tell-all book scheduled to be published by Penguin in 2010. Unfortunately for Penguin, however, Sanford is telling all about . . . his conservative political views.
Since the book was written, Sanford has self-destructed, admitting that he cheated on his wife with his Argentinian mistress Maria Belen Chapur (and others) and lying to cover up the affairs and trips to Buenos Aires and New York. Oops.
According to CNN, Sanford’s book, Within Our Means, is in the Spring 2010 catalog of Penguin’s conservative imprint, Sentinel. It’s described as “a manifesto about fiscal conservatism – why the government needs to spend less and fix the deficit ASAP.” The proofs of the book have already been sent to the printers. Oops again.
Sentinel associate publisher Will Weisser told CNN Wednesday that the publisher will announce later this week the fate of the book which, according to Weisser “could be anything.” Neither Weisser nor Sanford would say whether the book will be published as-is, thrown in the trash or re-written to include the salacious scandal.
I gather that Penguin wants nothing to do with Mark Sanford’s conservative manifesto since he is not listed as an author on their website. Sentinel’s site has no mention of the book either.
But how long until the real tell-all book from Mark, Maria or Jenny Sanford hits the Oprah circuit? And by then, will there be anything new to tell?
