Obama to Hone His Pitch in Broadcast Booth at All-Star Game

President Obama will be in the Fox broadcast booth at the 80th Major League Baseball All-Star game in St. Louis tomorrow, according to Sports Illustrated.
The First Sportscaster is scheduled to join announcers Joe Buck and Tim McCarver in the booth between the 3rd and 5th innings. Whether the president will help the professional broadcasters make the calls — “It’s a long fly ball. It’s going, going . . . gone!” — will depend on how quick on his feet he is, and whether his booth mates give him time to react to the play-by-play.
Also, for the first time at a sporting event, all living U.S. presidents will participate in a video address to promote community service. Before the game, the comments by former presidents Carter, Bush 41, Clinton, and Bush 43, along with Obama, will encourage Americans to volunteer in their communities.
After that, Obama will be the first president since Gerald Ford in 1976 to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at an All-Star Game. He will wear a one-of-a-kind Wilson glove, made of black leather and inscribed with “Obama #44″ and an American flag.
The game will air Tuesday on Fox at 8 pm Eastern time. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Fox has sold commercials at a higher ad rate this year because of Obama’s involvement. The ads reportedly cost $450,000-$475,000 for a 30-second spot, up from $425,000-$450,000 last year.
Let’s hope the First Sportscaster gets to yell out the two best words in baseball “HOME RUN!” or else he could be told. One, Two, Three Strikes- YOU’RE OUT
