John Edwards Partying Like a Frat Boy
Former Democratic presidential candidate and Senator John Edwards is under investigation by a federal grand jury for campaign fraud and separated from his wife of 30 years Elizabeth Edwards, but is still partying like a frat boy.
“On a given night, he might pop up at The Federal, a dimly lit Durham dive bar, or The Wooden Nickel,” according to a riveting article in The New Republic about Edwards’ current lifestyle.
Showing a shocking lack of humility and discretion, Edwards joined in the dancing with young strangers last April at the West End Wine Bar in Durham, NC. “Edwards cut loose, dancing to everything from salsa to Wreckx-n-Effect’s 1992 rap hit ‘Rump Shaker’,” according to the article.
Edwards admitted lying to the American pubic about cheating on his wife Elizabeth with Rielle Hunter, paternity of daughter Frances Quinn Hunter. He also is facing federal indictment for using campaign money to cover up the affair.
But, Edwards’s shameless partying comes as no surprise to former friends and political advisors. Edwards’ “bachelor lifestyle is a symptom of his outsize ego,” a source tells the magazine.
One witness to Edwards dancing at the bar in April tells the magazine, “If his career is over, at least he’s having a life.” Sadly, you can’t say the same for his cancer-stricken, terminally ill, estranged wife Elizabeth Edwards.
