Mel Gibson Under Attack From NAACP

Actor Mel Gibson was caught on tape, according to TMZ, screaming at his baby mama Oksana Grigorieva: “You look like a f—ing pig in heat and if you get raped by a pack of ni—ers it will be your fault.” TMZ reports that Grigorieva secretly taped Gibson while they were breaking up and fighting over custody of their nine-month-old daughter Lucia. The tapes have been sealed by the court pending the ruling on custody.

The NAACP reaction to Gibson’s comments was quick and brutal. The president of the L.A. chapter of the NAACP, Leon Jenkins issued a statement to TMZ calling Gibson “”an out of date and out of control racist.” The NAACP will not accept any repentance from the actor, saying that “an apology is insufficient given his history of racism, sexism and anti-Semitism.
Gibson’s career has been in the tank since 2006 when he was arrested for DUI and yelled at the arresting police officers: “F—-ing Jews … The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world.”
The public uproar forced Gibson to apologize. “There is no excuse, nor there be any tolerance, for anyone who thinks or expresses any kind of anti-Semitic remark,” he said in a written statement. “I want to apologize specifically to everyone in the Jewish community for the vitriolic and harmful words that I said.”
NAACP’s Jenkins says that “it is unfortunate that a man of his statute and admiration who has made his millions off of women, African-Americans and Jews” would “harbor such racist, sexist, and anti-Semitic feeling against people who have admired and respected him for decades.”
