The Fourth of July in DC
Human Events
For the first time, the famed rooftop of the W Hotel in Washington was only open to private party guests to view the Fourth of July fireworks. Guests drank red-themed cocktails and took turns standing under the air condition vents on the hot and humid D.C. evening.
The Honey Brothers band – whose drummer is actor Adrien Grenier who plays Vincent Chase on HBO’s “Entourage” – played original songs. Grenier didn’t seem to notice that all the girls in the room (including me) were huddled on his side of the stage to watch him play with his drum sticks and take swigs of Red Stripe beer. At one point, he held up a paper packet and said, “Look, pop rocks for the Fourth of July!” He then ripped open the pop rocks and downed them in one swallow.

When the Fourth of July fireworks went off over the National Mall, guests on the W rooftop stood three-deep along the balcony to watch the explosion of lights over the White House and Washington Monument.
